Description: Coffee by day, jazz by night. Welcome to 88's, where sophistication meets rhythm in the heart of NoDa's newest development. By day we're an upscale coffee haven, offering a carefully curated selection of coffee to start your morning right.
When the sun sets, we transform into a refined jazz bar, serving classics and favorites, while showcasing Charlottes best groove and blues artists. Named after the 88 keys on a piano, 88's is designed to capture the essence of timeless elegance and warm hospitality.
Comments: This place could definitely be a set for a La La Land-style movie, but set in Charlotte. Idk what you'd call that, "Transplant Land"? Anyways, this place has a very cool aesthetic. During the day it's a coffee shop, and at night it's a jazz lounge.
Lots of seating, especially if you're going during coffee shop hours. You're guaranteed to find a place to sit, either indoors or outdoors. All the chairs are comfortable too, none of those hard metal chairs most coffee shops use. Every seat here has some plush to it, so your back and butt won't hurt hanging around.
Great access to outlets by the bar and from any seating location that runs along a wall. I feel like this is an underrated remote work spot. They close at 2 PM to flip the vibe daily to jazz lounge and reopen at 5 PM, and at that point it's not really a place to be camped out on your laptop, but it's still very cool.
They have all sorts of events during the week. Some require a ticket, so check their website to be sure. Also, it's right by Queen City Art, formerly The Charlotte Art League, and The Independent Picture House, so you can browse local art installations and/or catch an indie movie after your time here.
A highly artistic and creative corner of the city this is. I love it!
