OMG Donuts & Coffee

Description: Bakery specializing in donuts such as apple fritters and buttermilk varieties, plus Vietnamese coffee.

Comments: Owned by the same people as OMG Donuts & Bakery in Concord. It's a small space, but it still manages to fit a decent amount of seating so you can sit and hang out for a while. The business clearly encourages that since they provide fast and free Wi-Fi. The donuts, coffee, and ice cream are all really good. So if you’re on a diet, don’t come here. Everything is sweet, and everything is good.

They also sell cinnamon rolls, which, as a connoisseur in that field, I’d argue are more accurately described as coffee rolls, but I’ll let it slide. Mostly because on my first visit, a food truck called Cookin & Cruzin was parked outside, selling marvelous breakfast sandwiches and cinnamon rolls from Beyond Amazing Donuts.

Beyond Amazing has long been on my list of best cinnamon rolls in Charlotte, currently surpassed only by Honeybear Bake Shop and tied for second with Sunflour Bakery. They’re thick, sweet, perfectly glazed, and powerfully pleasing cinnamon rolls. If you haven’t had one, it’s worth the trip to their location, formerly on Park Road and now in Uptown.

I’m not sure if Cookin & Cruzin is always posted up outside this place, but if they are, that’s a good and godly thing. OMG Donuts is a great spot to hang out, especially on a Sunday afternoon. If the food truck is around, you can grab a donut, a coffee, then hangout a bit, grab a breakfast sandwich, and a thick cinnamon roll all in one go. Praise be.
