Description: A locally owned Charlotte café focused on certified organic coffee, fair-trade sourcing, fresh local produce, and environmentally conscious operations. The menu includes hot and iced espresso drinks, lattes, matcha, chai, tea, hot chocolate, breakfast sandwiches, avocado toast, grilled cheese, BLT, caprese, chicken pesto sandwiches, turkey and Swiss sandwiches, wraps, burrito bowls, Caesar salads, smoothies, pastries, and seasonal treats.
The café positions itself around sustainability, zero-waste practices, recyclable packaging, composting, and community-focused service. Good for coffee, breakfast, lunch, smoothies, casual meetups, light meals, and a healthier café stop with vegetarian-friendly options and made-to-order food.
Comments: Great coffee, great pastries, great smoothies, but the highlight for me is the food. The chicken pesto sandwich in particular is marvelous. And the breakfast sandwiches are great as well. You can add a hash brown to each for extra crunch. The atmosphere is clean, polished, professional, and bright. Lots of windows, so plenty of natural light.
It's small, no more than 4–5 tables, but it seems to get most of its business from the adjacent office building, where people pop in and pop out, so if you're looking to camp out on your laptop, you should be able to find a corner provided you come before or after the lunch rush. The staff is very kind. It's owned by an Ethiopian family, hence the Black-owned and Habesha tags on this place, and friends and family all help run the place.
Outlet access is good from tables in the corners. I've worked remote here for a few hours and enjoyed it. The only downside is parking, which is in an attached garage. You'll have to pay, so make the most of your time and walk around the neighborhood. It's a walkable neighborhood with a few other businesses nearby to explore.
