Description: A lively coffee shop tucked inside the Dowd YMCA that feels far more social than you’d expect from a café in a gym. People genuinely hang out here, whether they’re working, catching up, or settling in for a while, and the steady flow of regulars gives it an easy neighborhood feel. It’s open to the public, so you don’t need a YMCA membership just to stop in. Parking is managed by Metropolis, and Giddy Goat gives you 3 free hours after a purchase when you scan the QR code.

Comments: You don’t have to be a YMCA member to hang out here. The coffee shop is in the lobby, before the YMCA check-in desk. Parking is free for 3 hours and validated by a QR code by the checkout counter. When you park, you’ll need to register with Metropolis by scanning the QR code in the parking lot. After that, scanning the QR code inside will apply the 3-hour pass to your session.

It’s a very modern coffee shop with great seating options. It reminds me of a college library. Not in the traditional sense, in the modern "made for studying" way, like the ones at rich state schools. As a result, this is a top-tier place to work remotely.

The Dowd YMCA in general is a very social place, with seemingly every attractive person in Charlotte having a membership here. So, if you’re looking to mingle, this is a good spot to hang out. If you're not a member, you're limited to the lobby, but it's a thing for YMCA members to work out then hangout here afterwards.

There’s good seating, including a conference room and a larger table for groups, plus an outdoor patio with some comfy lounge chairs. And it's spread out, so it doesn't feel cramped hanging here. They even have those single-seat chairs with high walls that colleges usually have. I don’t know if I’m describing them right, but they’re basically little one-person booths with walls high enough that you can slouch and people won’t really be able to see your face. Cozy. I like it.

Aside from that, the coffee and tea are good, and so are the empanadas. The staff is also really nice. They’re always happy, like seeing you is the best part of their day. Golden retriever energy, which is great if you’re in need of a kind face on a tough day.
